About

Our journey into the world of alpacas began in late 2015 when, whilst looking for something to keep the grass in check, we stumbled upon alpacas. After lots of research and farm visits, we made the decision to purchase a small group of pet males and in summer 2016, Keith, Kelpie, Kirk and Kyle arrived home - we were immediately smitten.

As our passion for alpacas grew, we began to look for ways to expand the alpaca venture and put plans in place to offer alpaca trekking, glamping holidays and begin breeding, thus Christie Alpacas was born.

In 2018 we welcomed three female alpacas, Gertrude, Delilah and Florence, who successfully delivered our first cria under the 'Christie' prefix - 3 girls called Ava, Anja and Ailsa.

In 2019 we welcomed two more cria - a beautiful girl called Babooshka from Gertrude and our first male, Bear, from mum Delilah - taking our herd up to 12 alpacas.

2020 got off to a sad start as Ailsa passed away in January following a battle with heart failure. Covid-19 also prevented us from being able to open fully to the public.

2021 has been another challenging year for us. The Paca Pod has been very successful, welcoming guests from all over the UK in what has been the year of the 'staycation'. Unfortunately the walking side has seen further challenges, with the loss of our long walking route due to change of use of the neighbouring farm and extreme hikes in the cost of insuring walks on public roads/areas. Walks have therefore been limited to mini walks round our own fields.
